With a sbc and standard port, 23 degree heads, and a normal weight car 2800+?

If so I'd love to hear how, my truck has run a best of 10.62, but that was at the slower of the 1/4 mi tracks in our area, so maybe a 10.40 in the fall at the "good" track.

I'm at 3170 race weight.

I know there are some very ingenious people out there and I'd like to hear your input.

Friend of mine had a 408ci with a AFR 220 head (about 2000 in head work) that went 10.50 on motor @3500lbs 14:1 supervictor intake hooker 1 3/4 headers 3" to 3.5 flowmaster 1 chamber mufflers. had we got the weight out of the car it would have gone 9's easy @2800lbs

Heads had 2.10 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust valves
Solid roller (not sure of the specs)

Those heads made some serious power he sold the whole upper combo. I kick my self still to this day for not buying those heads. Some guy with a malibu is has them now :(

Doug, What are your 60 ft times? You should be in the mid to high 1.3's
with your combination I think. With proper convertor and shocks you should be able to do it. What rpm do you launch at? 60 foot times are where it's all at.

I squeeked a few 9.94-9.97 passes with my little shoebox n/a 434 sbc bracket car. But in this Az heat she wants to run 10.00000000 Damn thing just won't go 9.x until we get d/a back under 4500'

It's not a very good combination really, Motown block, eagle 4" stroke crank, Lunato ProMod 6" rods, 13.2:1 compression, box stock AFR 220 'race ready' heads (flowed 291/213 @ .600" lift) Crower Shaft 1.55:1 rockers, Cam is one I had from my old 383 (this is an inturium motor so WTF) 264°/276° @ 0.050", .679/.677 gross lift. Induction is a Holley ProRam with a pair of Proform 750's. Motor made 666HP @ 6500rpm. Launch at 4700 and shift at 6600 gave 1.34 sixtys (tripping the 60' clock with the back tires)

I'm using a Hughes convertor that will flash to 5100 coming off the T-brake in a TH400. 4.56 gears and Hoosier 14x32 slicks. Car is 2980# with driver and fuel.

I'm going to wish you luck with the truck. I built one for street, show some bracket racing. I've NEVER been able to find a suspension setting (4link/coilover) to get that 3400 pound nose heavy pig to launch. Even with massive rubber on the rear she just unloads and spins. But then it wasn't really built with any logic in mind (and it's a good thing!)

Nice Mary.

Dogggggggggggg, my best 60 to date was a 1.45, and that I think was because the converter was on its way out.

It is sent in and I'm going to have them loosen her up a bit.

I did a stall test earlier and it only went to 5500 and strained to get there. after slippage it went to 5800 easy. But was depositing bronze in the tranny.

I'm having them loosen it up so I can get 6000 out of it. On the last 3 passes, when the tranny was hot it 60' better than when cool.

I did spring for a set of double adj shocks in the rear and they helped a full tenth right off the bat. I started with 60" in the 1.60 range!

I know this is odd, but the higher I shift, the quicker the truck gets.

I'm debating on a 2' spacer right now, as any major changes are out of the budget.

'Specially now we are putting a new diff in the V, as Caddy won't warranty it.

I have not got a 9.99 slip yet but hope to soon. Car is a 79 camaro 25.5 back half 2850 with me in it. Car went 10.06 at 135 . Motor is a 350 sbc with ported spead port Brodix 11X heads, alum. rods and lightweight crank. 260/268 IR roller cam from crane with .675 lift. On top is a 1050 dom. carb. I ran this car early spring 1/4 mile races but have not been back since. Mainly i run at a 1/8 mile track. I have changed some things on the car and have picked up .15 in the 1/8 so i hope that gets me in the 9,s well see.

Nothing fancy just the basic stuff. The back half of the car (from below the pedals back) is all cut out frame is all round tube except the stock front stub. It has strange engineering brakes , tubeular control arms with coilover front shocks , wilwood steering rack. the body is all steel except the hood . The doors are all gutted and has all aluminum interior.
