When wiring the dash. Whats the deal with all the wires for buttons and a external light?

Ill look through the manual again. Skimmed through like 80 pages and didn't see anything besides how to wire them if using buttons or a light.

If you have the IQ3 attached to a Sportsman or V300SD, the Deutsch plug with the blue, white, blacks etc wires is optional.

If you want to be able to change screen pages or backlight intensity without a laptop hooked up then you do need 3 wires hooked up for Button 1 and Button 2.

As mentioned programming is best done with the laptop.

Yes a momentary button is a must.
A single pole double throw momentary toggle works great.
If you can't find one a double pole double throw is easier to find. You just don't use the second set of poles.

Greg did a little demo video on it a while back.
