my doctor/surgeon was going to do my elbow surgery prescribed (2) different pain meds for me they're .....

nucynta /tapentadol 50mg

ultram / tramadol 50mg


both of these pain meds say for moderate to severe pain and i can't tell which one would be for milder pain or moderate/severe pain . i tried looking them up and all i can tell what is what over these two pain meds .what one would you use if the pain is mild and what would you use if the pain is severe

tramadol I use for severe pain, I weigh 220 pounds and two of them will make me dizzy....

just want to make sure i can manage the pain with either one after having major nerve surgery on my elbow in 12 days !!

not only do i have those meds i'm also getting ......

keflex 750mg / cephalexin ............ prevent infections

zofran 8mg ......... to prevent nausea

celebrex

I wouldn't get worried about it. I have shattered joints and didn't need pain meds. Obviously I wasn't trying to use the joint either....

With all that stuff, maybe you can get them to throw in some viagra or cialis, LOL:p

LOL!!!! ...........here it is 4am and woke up in pain and now can't get back to sleep ,hopefully these new pain meds and the surgery will alleviate this !!!

I normally take 30mg of oxycontin & 2 10/325 Norco both 3 times per day. When I have surgery, they give me 12cc IV of morphine and my regular meds. I'm in a lot of pain, that's why I can't renew my license anylonger, due to the narcotics. Kinda sucks, cuz I was certified to 6.00

Some people get great results from ultram/tramadol. Throw in some ibuprophen and it does pretty good. You may also ask about Toradol. It is in the same family as the NSAIDS and does a great job for alot of people as well. Don't take for more than 3-5 days cause it can cause an ulcer if you stay on too long but check into it.
