will be defeated the 1st time it goes to court. gov Scott has failed in two courts so far. so he is going to take it to the supreme court, on our dime, where it will be denied again. the state of florida has spent $4million to catch less than 20 people & save less than $2 mil. yeah, great economic sense
But it could save millions if it were to be put into law. As was mentioned the test themselves would become cheaper being they would be done in such volume. On a positive note if this were to pass the drug abusing leeches would move to an easier state to bleed dry. The more states that do this will create a need for the rest to fall in line just to avoid the cost of welfare refugees moving to their state. I really like this idea and can't understand how someone can justify not testing. If your employer can test you why not welfare, You have the choice not to test for either but you either wont get a job or any free money.

The thing that still blows my mind is according to that chart it is estimated to cost 280 per test per person just for the drug test. I could understand that.
But then it cost over 2400 dollars to document a failure?
A 5 year old cell phone has enough memory to store the test date and test result of 13000 records. An expectation of 2400 per person in administrative fees just to store a record is a bigger problem than welfare. This is mind blowing.
When you extrapolate it to the level of our federal government...its no wonder we are in the debt we are in. They are really creative at finding ways to make things cost 2400 times what they actually should cost
first get drug tested and fail so can't get welfare. apply for SSID and get lifetime free money because you're a drug addict or alcoholic. good times!
also those being knocked up on welfare shouldn't get more $$$ and should get cut off sooner. people need to realize that welfare isn't a way of life... lol
abortions: i'd rather pay $300-$500 now than $1000 per month for the next 18 years. maybe some of these aborters will end up sterile at some point... should set up a back door incentive program for "oopsies" on the doctors end

What don't you people understand about the crooked shit that the state will do to employ tons of people to run this at a COST of 1.2 Million per year to the taxpayers in that state? We all know drug store tests cost X amount, but the state will not use those tests. They will use their brother in laws company that makes a test that goes for 1000. Then they will hire 20,30 of their friends to run the deal at cost of 1.8 million.
It'll be run like a clusterfuck and end up costing money. Crime will inevitably go up too if people get denied. Sad sad world we have when its easier to just support the bums then treat em the way they deserve.
$2400!!!!!!
At my job we get randomly tested a couple times a year. We get sent to the closest Occ. Health facility and if they aren't busy you are in and out in less than 15 minutes.
I love the idea but hope they dont "price" themselves out.
Ps. I too dont want to be stuck paying for some potheads rehab. Should be one and done!
"The way the statute reads now, if a person tests positive their children might lose assistance, and I think that's a disaster," said Ken Falk, legal director for ACLU of Indiana.
Someone shut Ken the f*ck up!
He is worried about the kids losing assistance. Let me see if I understand this. Parent(s) is on welfare because they dont work or ends just aren't meeting. Parent(s) is getting high. Where in the hell does this dumb Falker think the assistance is going.
I aint no rocket scientists but I did actually stay in a Holiday Inn Express two weekends ago in Kokomo.
It would be nice to see one state try it then report back the findings. It doesn't make sense to give someone money who just wants to sit around and shove poison into their body. In Florida the judge said it was just a reflection of the stereotype that all people on welfare are drug dealers. To me if you're not on drugs then you don't have anything to worry about.
