You should be able to spray upto 150 with no problems as long as you play it safe. Follow the recommended suggestions of the nitrous tune ups and you should be fine. If you are looking at a 100HP kit, get a set of plugs that are one range colder than what you are currently using. Pull 1 degree of timing for every 25 HP of spray.. and use the jet spread recommended in your manual..

I was fine with a 150 shot through a 305. 35+ bottles and MANY runs. 2 heat ranges colder, NX Stage 6 plate and their spec jetting, Holley 600(spec jetting), Performer intake, headers, exhaust, stock distributor with 4 degrees base.

I however reccomend an NX spec 100 shot. The 100hp jetting netted 18MPH and the 150 netted 22 roughly. Seemed like 150 could have been TOO MUCH with the peanut cam/small cubes, not as efficient, etc. I melted a few plugs playing with timing/converter lockup at the 150 level so I'd reccomend a 100 shot, 1 step colder plug, 93 octane, 6 degrees base timing(stock for my TPI longblock). Goodluck!

One of our pit crew has a 305 in a 72 Chevy truck. He runs a 9.0 index heads up class on the motor. He has sprayed it with 150 and 175 hits. With the juice it will run 8.0 but has never got quicker than 8.0. The engine is 3years old and sees drag strip only, two weeks back the engine stared smoking all at once while running on motor only. Taredown, found several broke piston skirts and top rings broken in several small pieces. Hope this might give you something to consider. I think you could run 150 hit with realibality if you don't lean the system out. In a lean condition, anything can happen. Just make sure you have a fuel supply system that will provide volume, pressure don't mean much if the volume is not there. Good luck.
