Nothing replaces them but time makes it better, the most loyal thing on earth and nothing harder then holding them as they go.
No offense to any wifes.
Even hard to read this and think about when I put mine down last summer.
Get another one as soon as you can, they need us too.

Not an easy thing to do. Wife and I had two Bichon's male and female. We put our female down a few years ago due to cancer. The male "Scruffy" was my dog had to put him down last May after 16 years. Very had to do.
Give yourself some time then go to the pound and rescue one. We now have two from the pound, great dogs.
