There should be 3 fittings in the front. The one by the thermostat connects to one on the water pump. That is the bypass hose...it allows coolant to recirculate until the thermostat opens. The second fitting, on the water pump, is the return from the heater. IF you are streeting the car...keep the bypass hose. The heater ports can be capped or, pull the tubes out and tap for a pipe plug.
