How much money have you lost with organizations making constant rule changes? This would include anything that has to do with your racing program... I want an amount of money over the past 5 years that you have spent to build a car to original rules, orgs. changing them and you trying to keep up with them.. Or maybe you never finished your car due to the changes...

bought the car for 16k turn-key
spent 2 years building it for NPS rules

all the while dad and I have been spending and spending without looking at recipts.... lol I would be scared to know how much we have spent, and were not even racing yet....

and sadley we wont even be fast...lol

but thats heads-up I guess, if you want cheap racing build a car leave it alone and go bracket racing, but that is boring so spend money and have fun.

its like girls, if you want cheap just stay home with the wife, not as fun but cheap... if you want fun find a freaky hooker and spend some money

I built a drag radial car original class rules stated: Factory Heads/Factory Block, the following year: Factory Block/Aftermarket Heads, next year after that was Aftermarket Block/Aftermarket Heads.

I built three engines in three years, luckily I can get killer deals on parts and I build my own junk otherwise the figure I would lost would have been substantially higher.

I still have the rolling shell waiting for the rules to stabilize...

In my "humble" opinion we have lost nothing because each rule changed has made us better our program to be competitive, so how could spending the money be considered "lost" when it has only made the car better :-D Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmm............................................

We have always had to spend more to try and be competitive, so everytime a rule is changed that either benefits or hurts us we figure out how best to use that to our advantage. Unlike others who prefer to sit on the internet and talk about how they can't be competitive because they would rather whine about how it's unfair. Most people realize life will be unfair at some point and just make the best of it, others continue sucking on there mamma's tit and whine about it!

What kind of person do you chose to be?

Life is unfair? This isn't F'in life ,its a hobby. Its what we choose to to as a relaxing pastime. We bust ass, spend money etc. just to get to the track then with the stroke of a pen or a flap of a gum we get told to beat it, there's been another rule change.
Thats ok? we can't whine?
Hey honey , I have no clue who you are but here it is. I choose to race and whine does this make me bad? Is this not allowed?

Hey, I like myself and your annoying me. See ya later there.

If it's a f'in hobby and if you don't like the way it's done than don't do it, obviously a hobby is your choice, so guess what, you can take it or leave it! With your attitude I suggest you leave it! I don't know you either but I'm not going to whine about it, geez

Shannon,

The NSCA has brainwashed you bad if you really believe what you wrote.

Stability is the key to growth in a racing association and in life. Answer me this, First senario: Your husband starts "sampling the goods" and he trades you in next year for that sexy blonde he works with because she is, well the sexy young blonde.

Second senario: If your hubby asked you "Honey would you mind losing 25 lbs" (and maybe not speaking for a year)

Which is more beneficial to you and your family for future growth? Sure you may whine and bitch a little about losing the 25 lbs. but at least you'd still be a family and you will have the ability to grow as a family due to the strength of your family.

I don't know about anybody else in here but I sure would like to refine a combination for several years than to make drastic changes from year to year.

my humble opinion

I love it when you guys get on these rant's.......I race an index class, and yes I am passionate about keeping the rules stable (as Tom Cowle well know's). But I read these posts every day. If the rules stay the same.....and guys like Powski, Modeste, Bennet, etc. start covering the class by 2 tenth's or more, then every one bitches, and won't show up and that hurts the association also. These guys made things work with out of the box combos (Blow-thru carb, 289 ci blown, Big Block on spray in SS ?) They rubbed on it, made it work and the rest complain, so the rules are adjusted, and the same guys run better, it's a hard situation on both sides. Neither side wants to listen, everyone thinks they know best, and still don't show up to race. For Christ's sake even the "Outlaw classes" are starting to look at reeling in the cars with changes, in the name of parity. We need as a collective to figure this out soon, or we won't have a place to race in any association.

Hey Tom, I was one of the NSCA's critics and one of Budd's worst nightmares about rule changes and policies. I swear Budd dreamed about 33x10.5 W tires and all he saw was my face as the rim for the longest time. A rule change that we hated but adjusted to and actually worked for us, go figure, a W would work better but it would also help everyone else, so where's the advantage! Being on the outside has it's benefits for sure, you can be oblivious but when you do see the inner workings it's hard to sit back and watch it critiziced when you see the other side.

As for the other things, been there done that, improved my program and I am still here better than ever, soooooooo, any other theories for me.

I learned several years back to make the most out the life I've been given and not let the little shit get me down. Sometimes it's hard but in the end I am that much better for it and the people around me are also because they don't have to deal with a miserable person.

Mr.Gorski very well said, I wish I could express myself that well.

I am by no means an expert in Heads up Racing. Money is always the final say in what class you want to run or how fast you want to go. Rules are rules and they need to stay stable. There is always going to be a fast guy, or a money guy, or someone who just plain kicks ass, where ever he/she goes. I wish the Heads up guys had 6 month's between seasons to fit their combos to the rules. NSCA is slow Pro is slow(on the rule changes) and then it leaves 1-2 month's to get in line with the rules, Spend big bucks, try and rub on it and then go to the races. That needs to change. Then I read in previous threads that we should combine similar classes. I would like to see the bitchin start with combining Pro Nostalgia, Hot Street and Real Street. They tried, too many complained and here we are again. 3 cars each class each race. This sucks and being a fan as well as a racer, it really sucks to stand by and watch it.

:smt038 Wow, someone that really gets it!

No matter which side you are on it can be considered a win/no win situation, so do you sit on a computer and bitch about it or do what you can to make sure that this type of racing will be around in 2yrs, you decide!

I asked for specific examples of how a rule change has helped you. You NEVER answered my question. Give me facts....just the facts...maam.
