I am wondering how many amps a stock 87-93 fox body mustang alternator?

I have had an msd ignition, nitrous kit and warmer, electric fuel pump on it for years. But now I have upgraded to a magnafuel prostar 500 fuel pump, electric water pump, larger ignition, and larger nitrous.

Will this be okay on the stock alternator? If not please tell me what amperage I would need. I will not be using this on the street for anything more than an occasional short 10 mile cruise.

Thanks...

Depends on what accessories your car had. Power everything could be either 95 or 105 amp. Check the part number on it and cross reference from there.

2Gs were either 65 or 75 amps, and one of the worst alternators ever built. I would suggest going to a stock 3G off a 94-95 Mustang, or other donors. Lester 7771. Requires a small bit of rewiring, but will give you 100amps at idle. If you have MSD you can consider one of ours as they have avaalnche diodes, 180amps (more than you need) and bigger bearings in the rear. YB members cost is $180 Canadian. Comes with pullies and plugs required to redo the wiring, again is easy. Sorry for the sales pitch.

You might also get a way with some of the cheaper versions out there. I only mention mine because you have the MSD and most other companies use button diodes.
