When to want the most stable systen you will move it to the tank
Your data and commands are from the tank not the gate. I totally agree your tank is stable and follows your command. I will probably just add another transducer to the tank. And from that decide which one to use as the control input.

It does seem like the tank would just damp any issues even if there were any. I wonder what a spare sensor in the gate would show. It may still show fluctuations from the gate, but I suppose either way the benefit is the same. The PID controller is not trying to respond to the noise induced by the action of the gate. In which case a damper on the sensor alone might provide the same result. Either way, interesting topic, thanks for that. If I ever get my car switched over to the holley and try to control a turbo or two with it I'll have to play with this.
