I have a 393W
11.1 compression
AFR 185
Victor jr intake
holley 950hp
1 3/4 headers
hydraulic roller 230/234 @50 550lift
3100lbs
C4
8" converter
29x10.5
runs 6.70's in the 1/8th

I am looking to pick up some ET. I have been told that the heads and the cam are to small. Funds are tight so i was wondering which would give me the most bang for the buck can really one swing one at this time, either sell my heads and get a set of AFR 205's or step up to a bigger hydraulic roller. which one we pick up the most ET.
Any info or suggestions appreciated.

that cam is tiny, in a 393 it is dead at 5500 or less , that is about the same as a TFS stage 2 cam, put something it with at least a [email protected] with that many cubes it will handle it easily , what rpm do you shift at now? finish line rpm?

Start with a better camshaft matched to your build along with the matching valve spring kit. Then porting that intake and take it to the track. Tim Flanders had a set of stock TW heads on a 408W and went into the low tens so there is room for improvement without breaking the bank.

You'll need to work with your converter guy and possible play with rear gear but you have some good parts to start with.

right now you are making about 490hp at the flywheel. for that intake manifold and cam, that's about right. those heads are capable of about 530-540hp, so there is room for improvement.

I would find a used super victor unported. You may have to have the sides milled to get it to sit low enough to match the head. This is usually the case on Twisted Wedge heads too.

Cam wise, do either the stage 4 (242/246-110) or the stage 5(250/254-110) TFS cam. both are .598". If the converter goes between 4800 and 5300, do the stage 4. if it will flash above 5300, do the stage 5.

this should give you 530-540hp. you need the heads worked to make more than that.
