okay guys im building a 406 with 18* je pistons, mgp billet rods, callie crank need some advice on the heads. The plan is to have a 400 shot with two stages maybe one to start off with, i will be goinwith a cam with a lift in the range of .720 to . 750 also i am really trying to make the most hp as possible with this 406, also the block is dart and i will also be using a dart intake with 950cfm carb let me kno wat u guys think

some of the bowtie heads or the dart 18* heads will work just fine for you in my opinion.

Get with Curtis at RFD he offers way more than some generic head that is specific for your combo.

The SBX heads are nice they are $7500 bare and $9350 complete the rockers are $1885 and the intake is $3500. So I would do as all the rest of us do and call Curtis at RFD.

A well worked set of DART/Brodix/cfe/eddy heads will all do well. But.... That Dart intake will kill that combo!!! if you have it, sell it or give it away as a "gift". You need an eddy Gidden 2 piece intake to make that engine work and make HP!
The GM bowtie 18*s are nice, but not very heavy duty at all for that much spray. The decks are thinner.
With that cam lift, regardless of duration, you won't make much more than 820HP (na) regardless of the heads you use, good 18*s need lift like all great race heads. You should look at around .800"lift. But, since your usngin a 400shot, ofcourse you'll be nearing 1200HP. (if tuned/camd right)
More carb as well! You should consider a 4500dom.

With that much NOS, you do need some healthy port volume/CSA.
So a port designed for a NA engine won't cut it, you need to appraoch it differantly with a NOS setup.

The SBX heads are awesome!! I often look at cfes site just to see the pics.

I don't think you have the application intended for them. Stick with your original plan, with the 18*s

An sbx for a NA build is and should be used for larger cid with HP targets over 1000HP. (my opinion)

I think its $ not well spend for your engine.

kind of wat i was thinking as well i havent made my mind up on the amount of spray yet i mean i could even go to around 200 shot so the rfd 18* is the way i will go the goal is to be around 1000 to 1100 on the juice and make dam good power na

hey wat about the dart pro platinum series 18* heads any info on these and how they perform just got some prices from rfd and i dont think i am willing to drop 5100 on some heads just yet
