Ive just picked up a 94mm gtx55 turbo for my hydro cam 388ci LS motor. Have the option of either a pte vband 1.15 rear housing or a garrett 1.40 T6 housing. Which way would you go? Will be a street/strip dragweek kind of car wont be balls out racecar trying to make every bit of power the turbo can

Street wise the 1.15 is better suited but at the track the 1.40 has the advantage especially if its going to be run 1/4mi. That's a tough choice that hinges on the mid-frame turbine wheel in the GT55 units. Less lag on 1.15 steeet driving but definitely more power with the 1.40. It also depends on what you are running transmission/converter/dump valve wise.

Will be run both 8th and 1/4. On a 275 radial tyre.
Trans will be a th400 with a pro torque converter i will look at a dump valve for sure.
I dont think theres any rules against using nitrous for spool if i need to where i want to run.

Also street performance isn't really a big concern it will have a small quiet full exhaust on the road anyway and a open bumper exit dump pipe to race.
Had to make a choice ended up with the 1.40

New GT57 with 1.41A/R Garrett vs GTX-5533R with 1.15A/R. The GT57's are offered from 85mm to 106mm if I'm not mistaken. I am considering a 88mm so I can switch back and forth with the 106mm to meet class rules
