Thinking about buying a gtx55 for my sbf. Its a 3.25x4.125 with a solid cam turning8k+. Good set of Vic jrs flowing 335/258 @700. Question is would this be a good turbo for this combo and what about a/r size? The one im looking at is new and comes with the 1.0 but for alittle more I can get a 1.40.

We have one on a 331 running a 1.12A/R housing. Works awesome.

Good to know. Out of the 1.0 and 1.40 which would you recommend? I guess I can alway pick up a different one down the road if need be.

I know thats the turbo of choice for Jason and Patrick at PTP. I believe they run the 1.40 on most theres if I remember right. Mike @ Turbos Direct is a good source for those, he stocks all that shit and sells to most the top dog builders.

For that size motor go with the 1.00A/R. The 1.40 will be tough to get lit.

I would go 1.0 for those cubes. It would have to be a really gangster 363 to warrant a 1.40

Should still make 1300rwhp or more if everything else is right.

I help on a 347 with a 1.23......we have a hard time getting it to spool, but when it does it moves out. I think he is going to a 1.0 soon though.

Any numbers on the car your talking about. Kinda curious what this combo will do. Definitely dont want to have a issue spooling so ill probably stick to the 1.0 until data says we need bigger

Ruger311 has one on his 347, its a baby hyd roller and 8.25 to 1 compression. We can lite it off easy and it flys. Been 5.001 @ 140 on a 275. His back pressure is 1 to 1. Believe its a 1.12 housing as well.

I'm so tempted to try one of these for grudge races. Wonder how it would run on my combo at 2900?
Only reason im getting one. There's nothing but 28" races local. So the ultra turbo is out gunned. Figure this guy will pack a punch.

Not a big fan of precision turbos. Id buy the gtx55 based 94mm but this is just a SVA 347. Im sure this 88mm will find my limits

I'm already put of injector with the 76 or I'd already be looking for bigger. Gonna try a few things to free up some duty cycle first.

That m1 uses some fuel. I went with a pt4000 and gas. My 160's should be ok for awhile.

My combo was very similar. 3.25x4.125 9:1 comp Afr 205's with an Exile gt55 88mm. I ended up going [email protected]. It was a 1.24 a/r exh housing and a ptc converter.

Thanks for the info. Ive got a ptc in here now. Im goin to try the 1.0 first and go from there.

Not a ford but I do have the gtx5518r and we have been [email protected] on 27psi on a 370ci ls motor....
I have 1.40 and 1.87ars.............Both work fine. 1.40=1.117 60ft though, so far.
Have had no issues with turbo.

This is a mild 370 with a hp8811 and 1.23. Same size as gt55 turbine but is even lazyer

With a PTC 9.5 and 13-1 stator.

No foot braking or anything there. If I foot brake a bit to get some heat before going WOT on the brake it flashes without even hardly any hesitation
