Not wanting to take away from the car, but I believe that Mike English the track announcer said that the car was a "tribute"...... Was very cool to see, none the less! .... and nicely done.

Cool car none the less.
A local guy here bought one of Grumpy's vegas and was racing it when he crashed it and destroyed it. But this was also back in the 80's when all of this took place. Back then it was no different than buying a pro stock car of today and turning it into a top sportsman or super gas car.

It is cool for sure. It looks to have a 75-76 front end on it and by that time he was fielding Monzas with Larry Lombardo driving. Cool none the less.
Yep, and I was fortinite to drive one of Grumps Monza's for a while back in the 80's for a customer. We had built a small block for him, and the car went into the 8's and drove as nice as any car I have been in.. Those cars were built up in Pa., if I recall correctly, and they were state-of-the-art even in the 80's! Back then I told the owner to letter it back up as it was when it was "Grumpy's Toy", cause it still was very original, even down to the funky spark plug holders on the firewall, just as they were in one of Grumpy's books.. I wish I had pics of that car, probably took some, but ya know that was before digital cameras and I didn't take pics much back then.. :(

I think I drove the car that got wrecked and rebuilt with the Monza body..
