FCA does a very good job marketing their performance lineup and is reflected by the sales numbers. By comparison, I honestly cannot recall any TV adds for the Camaro or Mustang, while there are several Challenger commercials that come to mind.

This says it all.

“Here is a really old vehicle and it’s outselling the newest and the best from Ford and Chevrolet,” McElroy said. “It’s a practical car. If you want blinding fast performance, you can get a Challenger or a Charger with a Hellcat or Hemi engine. You’ve got a big back seat (in both) that can comfortably fit five adults in the car or easily put two child seats in the back. You can’t do that with a Mustang or Camaro. It’s a second car for guys and gals who want to be weekend warriors.”

He added, “The Challenger isn’t as good a track car as the Camaro or Mustang but most people aren’t going to the track. You get all the panache, all the image, all the performance and you still put your family in it and go have a picnic.”

As far as advertising goes, Chrysler does it right. There's always Challenger and Charger, and even SRT Jeep commercials, and plenty of exposure of those vehicles in sponsorships and TV shows,....while the Chevrolet on the other hand,...unless you are a Camaro fan, you don't even know the Camaro is still offered to the public if you are going by advertising,... which,... there is none.

The S550 can be dethroned by the Challenger......
Mustang 6G does not agree with me.....
So that’s happened is the camaro(because it’s ugly) and challenger flip flopped market share, the mustang is number 1 because it’s the best all around pony car

I think it said the average buyer in this segment was 51yrs old, who the fuck needs room for kids and cars seats in the back at 51! Lol:rolleyes:

Been outselling the camaro for a while now.
Outsold the Mustang during the last two months of '18.

Not everybody wants a track car........

Seems that Ford and chevy only cater to the Euro Snobs now days.

Not about room although it's nice to have.
It's about building a Performance car for the correct audience.

I'm a Mustang guy first and foremost but that damn Challenger is pretty frickin sweet when dressed up in a nice trim package. I see many of them around here and they are head turners. Regardless of brand loyalty it's hard to deny that Dodge is blazing the path for muscle/pony cars even if they trail behind the Mustang in sales.

IMHO, the Challenger and Mustang retained most of the appearance of the cars they were emulating. The Camaro just never looked like any Camaro ever built. If you're selling retro-looking performance cars, the folks buying them would probably prefer they at least look similar to the car they had or wanted.
