alright ive been searching all over trying to find info on the fullsize 10 bolt. now theres 5 and 6 lug, and parts sites ask if the ring gear is 8.5 or 8.6 and im not sure which trucks came with what spline axles. so basically my questions are,
1. which rears are 8.5 and which are 8.6?
2. what spline are the shafts? and do the splines differ with 5 or 6 lug?

and do chevys have a door code or glove box code like fords that shows what rear was put into the truck? or is it only on the cover?

my truck is a 90 gmc c1500 2wd 350 700r4, open carrier with the 5 lug axles. im looking more for interchangability options, which trucks i can pull carriers and gears out of and use them. thanks

88-98 10 bolt corp you can pull the carriers out of with no issues.
If you wanted to change a couple of bearings you can can use up to 2010 carrier and ring and pinion
