Ran a 8.5 10 bolt for a long time.632 2 kits radials 1.28 60 7.90`s @ 174, 3450 lbs. Never had a problem until we got into the 7.90 8.0 zone.33 spline 9" ends spool and cover .Buddy with a 12 bolt same specs on car, got less passes per gear set then I did.

I`m convinced a 8.5 10 bolt is stronger when built right over a comparable 12 bolt.

what brand of gears are people running with the 8.5 ? i bought richmond for mine when i bought my 35 spline MW axles and spool . my car will weigh around 2600lbs or so ready to race , at that weight i hope i don,t have any issues .

as for backlash what how little are people runni9ng measurement wise ?

Gears lasted the longest at .006-.008,also I used stock gears out of the junkyard, I would get 80 runs on them,new gears would go 5-10 runs.
