how hard is it to replace. car wont hold park all the time. checked the shifter comb and no cracks that i can tell it does have a HD one in it not a stock weak one. figured i would replace the pawl out as it clicks/clunks when it starts to roll ect

Not too difficult after you remove the valve body and the band struts. You may be able to alter or adjust the pawl bracket to give the pawl a little more engagement.

X2, Try this first, I have had to do this to many.........
mostly with aftermarket cases and gearsets............
But i check them all....just elongate the holes on the bracket,
makes it adjustable then you can set it tighter to the gearset...

ok thanx guys. shifter is fine it does it with out the shifter hooked up. i actually had it jump out of park when trying to loosen the driveshaft bolts lol
