Sad, but the bigger the canine...usually the shorter the life. He was handsome.

Yep, the larger breeds age much faster than smaller breeds for sure. We had a Dane named Prop when I was a kid, we couldn't afford to feed him after a few years so he went to family that had a lot more room and resources for him and as I recall he was only 10 when he passed. I remember being able to ride him around in the living room when I was 3-4 yrs old. Great looking dogs.

I raised danes with a gf. They are a super mellow breed. But like others have said, they don't live that long 8-10 years is average.
