I am wondering what parts are interchangeable between garrets older T series and the new GT series.

Mainly the 35 and 40 gt-turbos with the 60-1 and 60-2 t series

Not many at all. Shaft sizes are different, plus also some of the GT product is boreless and the older stuff is thrubore.

Some other things involved besides "will the wheel fit on the shaft." Heights, diameters, and machine work of the backplate are critical. Step on shaft and thread engagement length for the shaft nut are a couple more things that may or may not fit up...depends on the actual turbine wheel used (and application it came from).

Some of it will work but may require some precise machine work or boring for proper fit. Furthermore, from what we've run, the 60-1 and 62-1 don't respond nearly as well with a later GT35 style turbines. They work extremely well, however, with, say, a P-trim turbine. :smt023

thanks matt/doc

what it comes down to is looking for a set of trick 60mm turbos using the Tial SS exhaust housings and best possible compressor cover withou having them be BB. for the current project.
