A local was storing his race car in his parents garage and this is what happend when the garage caught fire.......

Thankfully it was only a low 13 high 12 sec car so he did not have a ton of money in it and it looks like State Farm is going to pay for it.... they had him talk to their specialist who deals with built and modified cars and told him to send him a list of mods and time slips and stuff so he may get a descent check out of it....

What??? State Farm doesn't cover claims on modified cars... I think someone is BS'ing you.

If they're asking for time slips, it's because they're about to drop his coverage and site him for having a 'race car'.

He told them up front tha it was a race car and for some reason they were ok with it, my insurance agent told me they would drop any car of mine that was foun to be a reace car.

They told me that ussually a garage fire that takes out a car is not coverd because the car had it's own pollicy but theire are exceptions..

Farm also told me mods were ok......... to an extent........ all depends on your agent I think..........

They said roll cages and stuff like that is an automatic drop.

the only exception would be if when the policy was written the client and insurer made a special written clause about it, otherwise there are no exceptions.

Homeowners WILL pay for a car.Just depends on the policy. My family has been through that and they got a car covered under a homeowners policy that got crushed under a garage in a storm.

if the homeowners insurence and car insurence is held by the same insurer then yes, but its still under the car insurence

Maybe some policies will. My brother had a 67 swb chevy hot rod that got damaged when a tornado hit the house causing a tree to fall on the truck. The homeowners policy paid for the camping trailer but not the truck.
