my malibu weighs 3200lbs without me in it. all steel except lift off hood, all glass. it has no cage, a full interior except the front seats are poly buckets, a/c box remove, heater removed. aluminum fuel cell, small block with aluminum heads. manual steering and brakes. it also has the factory steel bumpers and the factory bumper shocks have not been drained or altered in any way. i could go with fiberglass bumpers, rack and pinion steering, trz front suspension, tubular core support, tubular trans x-member, but i don't know if that would get it to 3000lbs with driver.

Well I guess my car is a freak then because with a 12 pt C/M cage, rear seat removed, no pass seat, 5 gal cell, full bottle, kirkey seat, fiberglass hood and front bumper with aluminum mounts, alum radiator, 4 wheel aerospace disc brakes and M/T wheels/325 M/T drag radials with my bow tie block 406 is 3180 with my 230 lbs in the seat. Drop down to the 275 hoosiers and my stock block 383 and it's under 3150. Getting ready to put speed glass for the front windshield and make a new radiator support for it to get a few more pounds off the front. 60fts on the 275 are 1.37

10pt ms cage, 8 gal cell, alum headed sbc, th350, 9in ford, mini-tubbed, no fiberglass except for the hood which is as heavy as a stock hood. rear seat out, factory buckets, crash bars still intact. power windows and the heat-a/c box is completly removed. edit.. i also hogged out the front and rear bumpers and got about 45lbs from there.

these cars are EASY to get down to #3000 lbs and under!!! you just got to know what your "not" going to need and what you want....

mine's sitting at a very well weight #'s now with easy and only fiberglass on it, is the hood and front bumper.. full 14 pt. cage system, factory glass, full interior, dash, factory radio, etc...275 DR's under it also..
As i stated they are EASY to make these loss weight and still look factory appearing.... another member/close friend on www.malibuthunder.com has his car sitting at the #2700 lbs mark right now and no fiber glass parts!

hit me with a PM and i'll tell you how.:p:p

I hear to build a mustang all the time. If every car you see in a heads up class wasnt a mustang i would love t build another one. I had a lx fox and just dont want another one..Would my combo go faster and work better in a fox?? yeah, maybe ... but im going to find another way.:smt093

Well if i decide to do a g-body it will probly be for sale unless i can swing keeping it. I just dint know if its worth the change. My S-10 is 3000# without me and with no # in the rear so the weight is going to be close to the same . It would be nice to have the 4-link rear and i think that is all i will gain...May just have to make the leafs on the truck work..

Man, I hate to say it but your better off going with the S-10 platform if that is your target weight. Even though it is a leaf spring rear you might be able to leave the leaf's in it and do a torque arm that bolts in???
