I'm trying to swap out a spool for a differential and am seeing some stuff that doesn't add up.

For a ford 9", what is the distance between the outside of one spool bearing to the outside of the other? Does it vary between 3.25" and 3.812" bore cases?

It should not vary except between manufacturers.

It should not vary very much at all, even if it did, I don't think it would make much of a difference.
