Hybrids are so 2003. Wasting that much money to engineer something that is already out there? How about coming up with a truly viable alternative to fossil fuels, like an electric car? Tesla is doing it on a lot less than $1 billion. Personally, I think it could even be done on less than what Tesla has used if they weren't so focused on performance. Especially when the performance doesn't live up to the hype. Not only that, but what about commercial vehicles? That is where all the money is spent on vehicles. Being the first company to produce a viable all-electric commercial delivery van, box van or towing vehicle would be where the money is at. $100K for a Tesla as a two-seater than can't haul anything, including ass? How many UPS/FedEx type vans do you think a company could sell at $100k if they truly never needed a drop of gasoline or diesel? That is the real market. A new car company producing ten year old technology is stupid, and shows how little creativity and foresight the captain of that ship posesses.
