Lotta' smoke but actully the track didn't get too messed up, they were running in about 15 minutes. I'm not sure I'd be looking in the mirror, especially with the other lane in front of me!

Be a good et car small cam probably done by 5500. Last a long time with little maintenance. What kind of distributor is he running.

Did it spin a lot? 106 should have got him in the 12's. A bad trans should have killed the mph more than that.

1969 1/2 Maverick did not have a locking steering column. The ignition switch was in the dash. That's all I can remember as the difference. I traded for a 1970 Maverick in late 71.

Looks like he lost a transmission cooler line and pissed all the fluid out, I bet the track personnel and other racers really loved him for that, better luck next time.

A friend put togeter an old Maverick with a 351w, Edelbrock heads, .500 lift hydraulic cam and a duel plane 650 4bbl.
9-inch with a 4.11 spool and 10 inch Nittos & Cal Tracks. 2800 converter. Glass front. Car weighs 2700 lbs with him in it.

IMPORTANT PART: This is the FIRST TIME OUT, He has not driven on a track in 25 years. The car has only been, literally, around the block on the street.
THIS IS THE QUESTION: What do you think this car will do at Bradenton today?

NOT what's the potential.... WHAT WILL BE HIS FIRST, AND WHAT WILL BE HIS BEST ET, TODAY?

My 170,000 mile LS1 with only an air filter and exhaust made a ball tearing 328hp on a roller dyno through a 4000rpm converter 4L60e in a car I'm guessing pegs in at 3350lb and first pass ran 12.49 @ 108mph (4.11 spool diff and 26x8.5 radials with IRS). I got it down to a best of 12.18, but I recently dropped a 6L in it and stripped it out a bit and hoping to run 10's on motor, then hit with some gappy gas to see if I can push into the 9's.

Given it has 650lb's advantage on mine I thought it'd be quicker........I would have though 11's for sure?

Your combo should be running high 11’s........

I doubt it immensely. I'd have to cam the LS1 to get a bump in power or dump some weight to dip into the 11's, all the calculators etc tell me that 12.17 was around the mark.
