hey guys,
its late right now so i dont want to call my trans guy, but i just started my car for the fist time with the new TH400 and when i go to shift it to reverse it makes this grinding noise like something isnt engauged all the way.
I have a Griner valve body on it, so i shut it off put i back into park and started it again, this time i held in the trans brake button while shifting to reverse, and it did the same thing.
so before i damage something can some one tell me what it may be?

I put 7 qts in it for now. I dont have a drive shaft yet for it so i was just going to run it through the gears and make sure everything is good while i have some down time.

thanks
J

No drive shaft? I would not run it

how do you check the trans with no drive shaft?

the noise may be the park pawl ratcheting if the linkage adjustment is off.

^^^ What he said, at this point.

Double and triple check linkage adjustment, fluid level, etc. And put a driveshaft in it.
