We took Vinny Barber's 3v 88mm Turbo 2005 Mustang to the NMRA Columbus race to try and run an 8.

For background info on the car and build pictures, check out this thread

Next pass it was pretty hot and over 3000 ft DA

This morning it was a bit cooler but we were rushed to the lanes and the car wasn't warmed up properly. Car almost stalled when he released the transbrake

Without the issue off the line this would have been our 8. He did win the round so we had at least 1 more shot at the overall record (8.89/dual power adder) . But we were very happy to have the single power adder record, especially in this weather. 155 mph ain't too shabby either.

Second round it was hotter with the Density Altitude at around 2800 feet.

To run an 8 in that weather at 3,500 lbs. we were more than happy. This is at about 20-21 psi so we have alot more left in it. That car is capable of running sub 1.35 60's. So the next time we are out, we are shooting for some 8.5's - 8.7's.

Modular Depot would like to thank Vinny for giving us this opportunity to build the baddest 3v in the World. Thanks goes out to all the companies that make the great parts to make it all happen and the great Team at Modular Depot that made it all come together.

Here is a video of all the runs.

Nice runs Ken!!!!

I get more and more impressed with the 3V everyday!
Had one in the shop this week that made 643RWHP on 12 lbs with a turbo and 91 octane.

Are the cam phasers locked out or just limited?

No. Make no mistakes about it, it's a clean build with most of the race parts hidden in the interior, but it's built for the track. It doesn't even have a belt.

If we wanted to prove a point we could easily make it street drivable but who wants to tear up a car like this on the street. It is registered though.

Locked out. I know that there are those new limiters out but I don't see the point. The less parts to break the better. I'll pretty much refuse to build one of these without locking them out. This particular one has the Mod Camponent adjustable gears but I've used the Livernois lockouts also with great results.

I don't see the point either! The one I'm talking about has the Livernois locks. Jumping thru the SCT programing hoops with the cams locked sucked! LOL! NOT very logical at all!:rolleyes:
