had to dip my finger in the oil and look at it
what could it be(hope it is not the bearings)

You could pull a couple of the valve springs (with the piston at TDC) and move the valve back/forth to see if the guides are loose. Valve has to be off the seat a little though. If they are they'll probably start wiping out your valve job if left unchecked. Is your rocker geometry correct (ie in relation to the valve tip)?

Do you know Jim Vincent that was in the Army @ Ft. Leavenworth? Had a 68 Camaro (Green Hornet) with 502 ran 11's.... maybe 12 years ago.

the guids would have to be wasted and most of the material would go down not up// if the filter is clean the upper end stuff could be shim material if the shop didn't put a hardend shim under the spring will eat in to the shim most of the metal will stay up top. the dampner will saw through the shims... 2cts?/

GOLD DUST=BRONZE
Bronze Gear.?

I had gold dust in my motor for a while because of a gear fittment issue ( it was tight) now its cleared up after a few oil changes since the gear wore itself into position.,...Gold dust is definatly not bearing
(bearing would be silver guys)

Make sure you dont have an inner valve spring broken, look at all the valve springs and see if any show more signs of the gold dust, if so thats the bad one. Could be the spring broke and rubbing the guide. I have had this happen twice.
