looking at getting a 91 454 FI BBC outa 2500 and was told that the head/intake patterns are different if i wanted(which i do) go to a carb set up VS getting an older style BBC?

any help/info would be great thanks

The head pattern is not different but it probably has smaller peanut port heads. If you use peanut ovals there are a few intakes that fit. Performer comes to mind.

The Gen V block isn't really a good base for a performance engine. Most are only 8:1 compression. The peanut port heads suck and to use a better Mark IV head, you need to use the proper head gasket or coolant will leak into the lifter valley. The Gen V heads have a non adjustable valve train.
