Uhhhh . . . Jermey . . . this event pays $7,500 for Street Outlaw if I'm not mistaken. That's because Norwalk runs both Pro and Outlaw 10.5 here. Events where they run one or the other tend to pay more.

As far as how much longer they can go on, you can't see the forest for the trees. This but a small fraction of what is there and going on, e.g. Top Sportsman Quick 16, heads up index classes, showdown (championship) bracket classes, regular bracket classes, True Street, True Street Quick 8, True Street brackets and on and on.

Heads up, no breakout racing is by no means what people come to see and enjoy any longer -- at least in this series.

What you say makes sense to me. There are a lot pf places for Outlaw 10.5 guys to race now and -- like I've always believed -- the higher levels of competition scare alway some folks. I've heard stories last weekend about how Steve Kirk won't even unload if he knows Lynch & Petty are there. I guess you could say the same about Grant McCrary now, too.

Fun Ford is an all together different show and, the truth of the matter is, if it wasn't for them, local fans in Orlando, Houston, Atlanta, Belle Rose, Richmond, Norwalk, Bristol, Epping and Ennis would never even see a Ford show or this caliber of heads up racing - even if there aren't a lot of cars. On second thought, scratch Atlanta. ORSCA runs there.

Besides, I think it's kinda snobbish for people to sit behind their computer at home and wonder how long someone else can go on. I'm sorry, but does Bill Alexander owe anybody an explanation? Does Charlie Harmon? Or Kenny Nowling? Johnny Fenn? Does this mean that people that DO go to watch what heads up is there are idiots? Are people who watch bracket racing morons? What about eighth mile racing? Does that make us stupid? Are we a little less than some other people because we might like heads up index racing?

Have these people actually been to a number of Fun Ford, NMCA/NMRA, ADRL and ORSCA events do really know? I probably go to more events around the country than a lot of other people on this board, but I don't feel I can belittle other series or the racers and fans that attend them.

I more than resent what a lot of other people imply about others who might like different flavors of drag racing. I remember Sonny Leonard looking down his nose at heads up sportsman racers -- and I resented that, too.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to being at Route 66 next weekend and to Fun Ford Bristol as well. It will be nice to see some cars I don't normally see.

Joe,
You know, those were some of the best memories I still have. Having you there and Chuck Samuel, Kevin Marsh, Chip Haveman and his Dad, etc. was a lot of fun.

Remember when we went go kart racing with Grebeck at Bristol? Seeing Grebeck and Samuel lock wheels is still a highlight I'll always remember.

BTW, Jack Barfield is promising a heck of a bash at Bristol that's gonna go down in the record books. Wish you could be there.
