The question I have is on a crank trigger set-up running methanol.
If the distributor is out of phase and/or the rotor/ cap contact are burnt or corroded so you get a weak spark, would you see the EGT go down because your sending unburned fuel out the exhaust or up because the mixture is burning late?

We just had something similar occur last weekend.

Took 3 degrees out of the mag, and blew the entire driver's side intake gasket out across the top.

The plugs were so fat that they looked brand new, but the EGT's were hot enough that you'd have thought the pistons would have holes in them.

I'd have to think what you're talking about would be a similar condition. Rich mixture, with retarded timing.
