Has anyone had and experience buying a vehicle thru Ebay?
Here is the deal.
I am looking to buy a tractor from a guy who posted the tractor in the local Craigslist ads.(Georgia) He sent me a couple emails. He said he wanted to post a "Buy it Now" on ebay to make it secure and handle the payment. Well,
I look at the ebay add and the tractor is located in NY,NY.And it says "make payment" to another name.He also said the tractor is already at a shipping company.
Kinda sounds a little fishy to me.
Here is one of his emails>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The tractor is in New York and is in perfect condition of working with only 890 hours and a clear title, I'm the first owner was buy from new. The engine, drive train, & equipment are all in proper working order, there are no shakes or pulls in the steering. Interior, well kept. Exterior: no dents, no scratches. I really take good care of my tractor and I assure you will have no complains. I would appreciate an answer from you today, please get back to me ASAP and let me know if we have a deal or you changed your mind so I can know what to say to the other possible buyers.
Thanks!

P.S. The shipping is free because like I told you I am affiliate at this company and I have a protection account of 10.000 $ and they manage all the shipping fees to the customers at low price, so you don't have to pay anything.

Whats yall thoughts??????

I buy trucks all the time on Ebay. But I allways go and pick them up and pay on the spot. That way you can test it and make sure every thing works etc. Also its nice to know if it really exists......

I found it on craigslist. So I emailed the guy to set up a time to go see it. It was supposed to be about 45 min drive for me. He then says he is out of town.yadayadayada.......and he was going to go thru ebay to sell it. I type in the item number he gave me and it doesnt exist.
Go figure.

There's your first clue right there. If it sounds like it was written by a Nigerian (or at least sounds like Borat lol), it probably was. Run away!

I've both bought a car on Ebay and sold one there as well. The one I bought was back in 2000 and looking back I can say I would never do it again considering how easily it could have been a scam. Scary prospect indeed.

That my friend is a scam in the making, although i did buy my Chevelle off of Ebay, it was located in Texas, I had the owner of it take it to local shops in his area that i found so they could check the car out to make sure it was represented as he stated in the add, after he took it to two shops we talked on the phone a couple more times before i sent my deposit to him
Just do you due deligence on anything you buy that's not local
