Took my Malibu out for one last time this year. First pass was great. Second run the front u-joint broke, along with part of the yoke and the tail shaft housing on the trans.

FWIW it was a 1350 u joint but the drive shaft has took years of abuse. Looks like the car got the back wheel off the ground as well.

Yeah I'm glad it didn't break down track. The drive shaft loop did it's job.

I think that the part of the yoke that is welded to the drive shaft tube broke first then took out the u joint. I had just checked the whole car over, including the u joints before going to the track. Everything was good. The part that is welded to the tube is sheared in half.

That plus the speed bump in the right lane.

Strangely though, out of all the tracks I've ran on around this area, 41, Martin, Milan etc., my car runs its best time and mph at that track. Haven't ran at Union Grove yet though.

That was nasty...You R big time lucky it didn't let go on the big end...Think I'm gonna replace mine now
