anyone here any good with the dodge a518 transmission's? im rebuilding the one out of my brothers durango (1999) modle, what i found is the kick-down band was smoked, i mean it did'nt have any friction left on it at all and it killed the reverse drum with it... what would cause this? also is there any problems or tricks i should check out before i start going back together?
99 is still a hydraulic shift to 2 and 3 .Check acc piston and it is possible that the band adjustment wasnt correct or the screw backed out.was any other clutch back burnt?Be sure to replace governor switch as well.
