Old track didnt give a shit but now I have to go to Wild Horse Raceway and heard they actually do an inspection. Wheels are RTS so short shank lugs if that matters

But the stud must extend into the hex portion of the nut at least 1 diameter of the stud

That's the NHRA rule. Local officials at each track make their own rules on this. Usually the lug nut has to be drilled through so that the inspector can stick his pen in the hole and check the distance. Sometimes they'll let you drill just one and assume the rest are the same. This doesn't work, however if you act like an asshole when you talk to the inspector.

Tech at Wildhorse has been known to check for the torque on a lugnut by using there hands.
Had to keep from LOL at them........
