I can't remember where I saw it,but I once saw a video report on tv about female circumcision that is done on girls at puberty in some islamic communitys. In the report I saw it was performed by the local barber with scissors without pain killers of any kind,the young girl was being held down with her legs open by her father and his friends all the while screaming in agony. In case you are wondering just what female circumcision is,it is cutting off the clitoris to pervent her from having pleasure during sex!

Actually, they trim up ANYTHING that's down there--clitoris, labia, the whole deal. And then they frequently stitch it up to the point that things have to get torn back open for intercourse in the future.
A lot of women who escape there seek plastic surgery here to put things back to right, and often are told there's no hope to fix it. I researched it a good bit for a story when I was in college.
