He probably used FMJ ammo, and not hollow points.

I "heard" today that the shot got her in the Right eye socket ,,don't know for sure.

The reports about where he bought the ammo are more of the Brady Campain smear tactics,,to get people behind GUN CONTROL.

It's too bad that the Brady Club isn't exposed for what they really are.

James Brady and Ronald Reagan were shot with a '22' , not an assault
rifle, not a Glock with a 17 round mag,,,,,a 22 cal REVOLVER!

At point blank range either would have blown a hole through her from the side of the head forward through the eye socket area.

I heard it came out her forehead, near the eye socket.. She had an operation to get bone fragments removed from her eye..

Thunder.. Don't feel bad about asking the question.. It's one of the very same questions I had on my mind.. I'm think'n it had to be FMJ's ..

A bit off topic but wasn't there a problem with the silver tips failing to expand back in the day?

I heard he used a 9mm. After all the negative things I have heard about how small and weak a 9mm is and how it is not a good self defense weapon, and how you HAVE to have a .45, it appears to me that he did a lot of damage, especially if he used fmj's.

I hate talking about this also, but this has been on my mind for a week now.

I have shot a lot of handgun and rifle ammo into balistic gel, and just about everything else you can think of. Given the fact it went through her skull, yet only had to travel a few inches, it could have been just about any type of ammo. Given the circumstances a hollow point would not have neccasarily caused much more damage than a FMJ.

If you look at the ballistic charts, 9mm fall between .38 Special +p's and .357 magnum's.. With some of the 9mm +P stuff approaching .357 magnums in energy delivered.. They are all .35 caliber..

But for some reason a .357 gets all kind of respect, by the same people that think a 9mm is a cap gun..

Hollow points fail too. If they hit at an angle they will perform just like an fmj. I actually saw one of the recovered bullets from a shooting I was involved in and it did not expand at all. It was a clean through and through with a Federal 165 gr. Hydroshock. The hollowpoint collapsed and the only thing visible in it was blood and hair.

When HRT teams start carrying 9mm maybe then they will start to get more respect. One other thing nothing wrong with asking this question here.
