A tale of caution for those who are considering buying cylinder heads from RFD. First, I'd like to start off by saying
I chose these heads for my 565, It was my decision alone and were not recommended to me. I chose them based off of positive (but old) reviews.

I contacted RFD/Dan back in December 2020 and ordered The 24-B heads and T&D shaft rockers for the 565 I'm had built. I was told that he could get the heads out in January.
January comes around and I ask him to see how everything is going with the heads, and I get told that they'd ship out the following week I called him. Not a big deal to me, I wasn't in a rush.

However, this went on for a couple months of hearing him say "next week", but in April 2021, I received an email from him saying the castings for my heads had core shift, and he needed to order new ones in order to give me a good product. Why in the hell did he tell me you were going to ship my heads out week after week but now I'm being delayed to do a bad batch of castings?

Mid-May rolls around and I call once again. His secretary or whoever answers the phone and I tell her I want to know what's going on with my heads. She places me on hold for a couple minutes then tells me that Dan is having them being worked on right now and they are shipping that Friday. I pay the rest of the money for the heads, as well as give them the address to ship them to.

Early July comes, and I contact Straub and he says he never received the heads and rockers. At this point, I'm pissed. I call RFD again, the secretary answers, and I ask her where the hell my heads are, I was told they were shipping out in May. That's when I get told there was a miscommunication on where they needed to be shipped and that they would send them out tomorrow. How in the hell was there a miscommunication when I gave you the address myself? And why did it take me calling 6 weeks later for you to fix the "miscommunication"?

When Straub received the heads, I asked if the rockers were in the box with them, and I was told they weren't. Now I'm even more pissed than I was before. I call RFD again and I ask where they are. The secretary there told me that they were shipped to the wrong person and UPS is going to get them to my builder. Once again, how was a mistake like this made?

Dan sends me a tracking number via email, but it said the shipping label was created on the 7th and there was no tracking information on it. The rockers eventually made it to my builder after I kept calling to find out what was going on.
I'd also like to add, that in between the points of time that I was in contact with Dan/RFD, I would call for almost 2 weeks straight without them answering their phone, and even getting an email back was difficult. They didn't seem to have an issue replying via Facebook though.

Not only did I have terrible service from RFD, but I had received calls from Straub regarding the heads, and they were a mess. The springs weren't prepped for the retainers, the spring pressure was way off for my cam, the valves had to be cleaned up, and the valve seats (If I remember correctly) were out of concentricity. There were also other clearance issue in the heads, and I was told that had I not had them inspected and had them fixed (which cost about $600), I could have had bad engine damage. Thankfully, there weren't boat anchors, but I was told that they do flow the air they advertised.

Curtis sold RFD to one of his employees a few years ago. His name is Dan Morgan
The legacy of unhappy customers continues...That is too bad....Many folks were supportive of RFD....
Go through island racing
Sounds like a lying piece of shit. Fuck him. Liar.

He wasn't even apologetic in our last email exchange, and made it seem like he thought the inspection was incorrect. Didn't even want to make it right to try and cover the cost of his mistakes.

Real Fricken Disgusting.
You should pay him a visit with a billiard ball in a sock.

It's the only reasonable response.

That's fucked up but seems to be about par for the course for them lately, I can't see them being in business much longer, sooner or later people are going to start taking their money elsewhere.
Billing you extra for work that should be performed when you do a complete competition valve job is bullshit.
Facing valves, facing tips and honing guides are and should be part of a complete competition valve job, along with assembly and setting up springs. If they are installing guides or liners it would be different.
Paying extra for something that is normally included.............
Can't go broke making a profit I guess.
Just paid $350. for a complete VJ , including radius exhaust, fresh backcut on intake, cut seats, re clean, set up and assemble. Conventional BBC heads.
Nothing worse than making multiple phone calls where no one answers or return your calls. To all business owners, a courtesy call is all it takes to inform your customer what is going on with his project.

I 100% agree
Sorry for what seems like a major screwing. I have had excellent assistance in resolving things like this by filing a complaint with the business location State attorney general's office. Most if not all have on line complaint forms. Include the documentation of your efforts to contact and their responses you listed here along with the paperwork.
I've noticed over the years a lot of self proclaimed cam guys, carb guys and head guys, come on these forums to bs people to drum up business. The best in the business aren't on the forums bragging about what they do. I've never seen any products from RFD at any track in my area.

Head porters are the weirdest industry. I've been in head prison myself, and know of no other component in racing other than paint, where more shenanigans occur.
Is the billiing for the valve job/milling Straub or RFD?
