Can a sliped outer ring on a balancer upset the valve train/ timing enough to cause ignition to break down at the top of the gears. Around 7,000 rpm. It moved about a 1 1/2. We are replacing it with a certified unit.

We installed the new super damper today . When we set the timing, it idled about 600 rpm to fast. So I hope this was the hole problem.

Will do.. we compared the old and new one by lining up the key way and it was about 2 3/8 inch difference. Thanks
