I have been bike riding for the last few years.
Last year I hit my goal of 2,000 miles @ 2,120.

Weather has been rough this year, but got in a great
ride today. I’m old, fat & slow, but getting healthier!

Any other cyclists / bicyclists here?

I just subscribed to this thread and I have no idea what that means!

You made a 54 mile ride on that today? Budget MTB with cross tires and pedals with clips. Cool.

Ya, I know, kinda of a crazy bike set up, but it works for me.
I can't bend over like those on a regular road bike (10 speed style).

I use a nice Trek with Kenda Kwest 100 psi road tires. Those are
not peddle clips, but peddle cages. I also use a rear view mirror
on my helmet and high visibility vest and or neon clothing and a
few other things.

My best day so far has been 61 miles, 134 miles in one week.
Last week I managed 118 miles. I'm gonna get healthy
or die trying!

Right, toe clips versus clipless.

Good on ya! Get wheeling! I'm also a MTB on the street guy. No pix with me, but have a vintage Canondale Jekyl with cross tires on it. I used to do a lot of century rides, but haven't in a while. Need to get my old ass back on it. Which reminds me - I need new shoes...

I just sold my Specialized road bike. I ride my Stumpjumper on "urban" rides but I prefer to be out on the trails. I use to ride weekly but I've been so busy I haven't ridden much this year. I really miss it. Need to make time for it.

^^^ You say "urban". That's what I mean, too, when I say "street". I do not get into pelotons and crap anymore. That's too dangerous anymore.

Ok, so let me ask you guys, I have an older Giant MB with no suspension,
would this still work off road if I "were to take it easy"?

I hate to buy a new bike for trail riding until I know its something I'll
stick with.

I had been riding for 2 miles a day around my neighbor for exercise up until a knee injury a few months ago.

It helped my lower body.

I hate not being able to do it now

If you're the guy that runs stop signs and holds up traffic because you can't get off to the side of the road... then FUCK YOU:smt097
Really dude? So if one car cuts you off in traffic, are all drivers
evil bad people? No, I'm not that "guy" and don't know anyone
who is.

So tell me, are you that driver you can't use a turn signal?

5 years ago I was on oxygen 24/7. I could only ride 1/2 to
1 mile - then I was spent!

After about a year I got off the O2, loss a little weight and
began my build up to where I now ride.

Yeah I figured you meant more urban.

To get into it use your bike. You will find quickly what you like and don't like. We have some pretty gnarly trails and I rode them all with a Hardrock. It had a spring fork and was a hardtail. The full suspension is nicer and it makes riding easier but you can do it with what you have if you're honest with your ability level.

If you make it back down to this area we have some of the best trails in the southeast. Old phosphate mines. Hit me up and we'll go ride.

Got rid of my Trek Fuel EX5 last year after it broke my ankle & 2 ribs, wife got me a new Evil Calling, shot the big load on it, got the Eagle XO drivetrain, carbon wheels/cranks/bars. EXTREMELY capable bike, with a rider that hasn't got all his confidence back yet...
