sbc 400 ci, Pontiac 867's, currently have HV1005 intake but changing to a 2971 to run an IS dominator plate, comp street roller 248 254 .614 .600 110LS, 10-1 comp, 950 hp, 1 3/4 headers with 3" dynatechs, converter goes 4200 on trannybrake, pg, 4.11, 28 x 10.5's, 3100lbs, ladder bar Vega. Has ran 10.50 at 128.7 with1.50 60' on 91 octane. Has ran 5.87 at 117 1.31 60' with 32f 32n fogger(old school tune). Only made three passes on spray, didn't have a chance to tune it. I'm looking to change cams. And how much are those headers costing me? Also, I'm running a plate nitrous class with 4150 carbs only.

nitrous likes big headers.but i dont think you are loosing a ton becuase of them.maybe 10-15hp up top.the cam seems small to me and im sure will have improvement in that area. on my motor a squared tune up liek yours was pig rich. i went to a 4 jetspilt. fuel being smaller jet and picked up .15 and 5 mph. but every engine is different.so read your plugs they will tell you everything

I went 5.70 with 867's on a 383 w/2" headers i my s-10 on a 275

That was an old school tune of about 300hp. Those times have changed to 10.18 on motor and 8.68 on spray(.120 nitrous jet). Changed the manifold and nitrous plate and added a vaccum pump since the original post. 8.68 at 152 mph was on the rev limiter for maybe 50-100 feet. Ran 5.50 126 in the eighth.

Yep, I've learned a little the last couple of years. The original post was Jan. of '11. That year I switched to an IS real street plate and the tunes with it work awesome. Regardless of if the cam isn't the best, I think an 8.68 at 152 on the limiter is fairly awesome for a shelf cam with only .600 lift. 10 years on the same valvesprings and still gets the kids around town! LOL It's not a trailer queen racecar.
