I need another opinion. While tearing down my BBC lunati crank merlin block I find I have .012 endplay. Thrust flange on bearings and crank look good. The rear main bearing is worn to copper on the journal but only on the front half of the bearing. I will have the block aligned honed and the crank checked but is that too much end play? It had .008 when it was first built.

Correction. Its the rear half of the bearing that is rough.
I believe my converter is bottoming in the crank.
Let me back up a second. This is a stock suspension 69 camaro with a th400. With the rear suspension at full drop, it swings a little forward and I cannot remove or install the drive shaft- its too long. Im thinking at launch the drive shaft is bottoming in the trans shoving all the rotating shit forward and eating my thrust bearing.
Im gonna install a new rear main brg and check thrust on Monday.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Any input is appreciated.

At ride height and race weight, driveshaft slip yoke should be able to move 1" to 1-1/8" into the trans before it bottoms out.
