I’ve been posting cases of interest to us firearm and 2A folks here for a while. I’m just going to use this as a single thread for important cases and keep adding to it. This first case below has been chugging along a couple years and just now, 04-01-19, the SCOTUS is being asked to review it. It’s a good one. Let’s see how willing the court is now to take on an important 2A case, Gould v. Morgan. You can see the history towards the bottom.

They only banned use of them in public. Whatever the fuck that means.

Don't worry at least you have a strong state preemption law and they will get smacked hard with the hammer of lawsuits.

Update on Gould, cert filed with SCOTUS, if you want to read it.

https://www.mdshooters.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=257285&d=1554224241

Briefly....
“The questions presented are:
1. Whether the Second Amendment protects the right to carry a firearm outside the home for self- defense.
2.Whether the government may deny categorically the exercise of the right to carry a firearm outside the home to typical law-abiding citizens by conditioning the exercise of the right on a showing of a special need to carry a firearm.”

This case is being heard today.

Rehalf v. United States

“When the federal government prosecutes someone not legally in the United States for possessing a firearm, must the government prove that the person actually knew he was not legally in the country? Or need the government merely prove that the person knew he possessed the firearm? The U.S. Supreme Court will puzzle over this classic, yet novel, statutory question of “mens rea,” or criminal intent, when it hears argument on April 23 in Rehaif v. United States.”

I believe this is similar to the cases NY and NJ have filed.

The next year could prove to be monumental to those of us behind enemy lines.

“So in the last administration, President Obama signed the UN Arms Trade treaty and in his waning days in office, he sent the treaty to the Senate to begin the ratification process. The treaty threatened…your rights,” the president said.

“Under my administration, we will never surrender American sovereignty to anyone,” he said. “We will never allow foreign bureaucrats to trample on your Second Amendment freedoms.

“And that is why my administration will never ratify the UN Arms Trade Treaty,” he declared. “I hope you’re happy.”
“We’re taking our signature back,” Trump concluded.

New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. New York, NY

This case is about ability to transport firearms, challenging NY’s ridiculous regulations. The SCOTUS agreed to hear the case and of course NY filed to have it delayed so they could ”work on it”. The SCOTUS told them to pound sand.

I believe this might be the one its1ow was referencing above.

THOMAS R. ROGERS and the ASSOCIATION OF NEW JERSEY RIFLE & PISTOL CLUBS, INC., v. GURBIR S. GREWAL, et al.,

Yea thats the one. Our idiot AG tried to say that since police/feds can carry in NJ, their is no infringement on concealed carry.

And interestingly enough, the state has a strong leg to stand on when they claim that, "well no one applies for the permits, therefore we can't issue a ton of them" They have successfully prohibited it long enough folks just don't bother applying. :(

I was very proud while watching this, I've filled in UN Arms Treaty on almost every congressional survey I've filled out since it happened when they ask for additional comments.

This one was just rejected by the lower court, has now been appealed to the 4th circuit and plans are that it will end up before the SCOTUS. This is a challenge to the constitutionality of “may issue” laws (for CCW permits) such as the one in Maryland. Malpasso vs Pallozzi.

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/ca4/18-2377/18-2377-2019-04-29.html
If these wave of cases challenging may issue and the specificity of where one can carry go through and win... wow, that is going to send some serious shock waves through blue land.

Even if may issue states begrudgingly gave permits out, but severely limited where one could carry it would be huge.
