I need help choosing a converter for my 41 chevy bracket car. Each different tech line i call i get a different opinion, and a different answere...Anyway, Motor is a N/A 12-1 355 sbc, Dart pro-1 200 cc heads, comp cams solid lifter, 532/555 lift, 252/262 @.050. Car weighs roughly 3200, turbo 400 trans,.456 gear, 28x9 Mickey thomson slicks. Some tech lines say 3500 stall, some say 5000. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I would say you would want a converter that would flash stall to at least the motors torque peak and I would say roughly 5200+ with a shiftpoint of around 63-6500 rpm and a launch rpm of typical bracket race style 3800.

I would recommend an 8" converter with a flash stall speed right around the 5000-5200 range and im quite sure 11's would be no problem.
I would still have a launch/transbrake rev limit of around 3800 with the small tires.

Ed ,I am partial to Neal Chance converters as most of what I do requires a lot of maintenance and constant adjustments to keep the transmission system working to its maximum potential. The NCRC bolt together design allows me to adjust and maintain customers transmissions/converters with very little downtime .
There are many great companies out there that build weld together converters ,A1,ATI,TCI,Continental,Coan,PTC just to name a few that I have seen many racers have great success with and I know I have left out many more.
