I see a lot of talk about heads and flow#s but wondering with all these new killer conventional heads what they are really making on the dyno and track.

You should call Curtis at RFD, he has some nice upper end packages Think I saw 598s making 1050 to 1100

I know of a 598 with RFD Touched up Conventional Heads making 1100+ hp and Runs 8.80's in the Heat basically a Braket Engine in a 3400 Lbs Car

scott is that a single carb motor thats haulin ass for that weight N/A.

Curtis had a set that were done for a customer that changed direction with their program. Awesome price and ready to go.

I know of a BES built AFR conventional headed 565 that is making 1080hp/815tq and has went 8.86 @ 158mph at 3325lbs in 1800' DA with a shitty 1.36 60'. There is still lots more in it whenever the guy can get it figured out!

it's all over the map for power numbers, as it really depends on a few things
besides the heads.

At 460-490 cfm there isn't a cast intake that can supply the heads, ..
so peak power now depends on the manifold, as it always has, .. but
it's more critical now.

Just had a customer build a bracket 565, RFD 24* head with ti intake
valves, Super Victor ported but not crazy porting, .. on gas EFI
made 1098 hp, .. but the average was 1072 !!! from 6500 to 8000
Average power is what makes ET, ..

Typical I've seen with the 24* head and un-ported cast single 4 intake
is 1040 to 1080 in a bracket style engine with Chinese parts and .850
or less lift.

same heads on a 598 or 632 with a sheetmetal intake and big cam should
go over 1200.

West, yes the heads I have done are the bb-4 raised runner that where
being built for Texas prostock, .. 485 cfm peak, very good mid lift
numbers, .. good port velocity, copper seats for titanium valves, ..
killer set of heads that I would love to sell.

I have a set of the heads curtis is speaking of here and they do make the #s he says they do. He is a straight shooter.

When you make the switch to 11* heads does the same apply to the intake???????

" Not able to keep up with the flow #`s with a cast manifold"......... 1x4 or 2x4?????????

No not really, .. see with the spread port stuff it's intended for 550+
engines and you can buy a nice Edelbrock cast single 4 for spread port
heads that can handle it, .. nice big runners & plenum.
The Carb becomes the limiting factor, .. not too many 2200 cfm dominators around.

With the conventional stuff, .. NOBODY is building a cast SINGLE 4 intake
with the proper size runners and plenum, .. they ALL take extensive
porting. Take a 460 cfm head, bolt on any cast intake and flow it, ..
it'll kill at least 20 cfm, .. and these are the numbers your engine really
sees. Now bolt on the 1200cfm carb, .. choke another 20 cfm, ..
soon you're lucky if the engine really sees 400 cfm.

With 11* stuff most we build here get a sheetmetal intake, ..
and a sheetmetal intake on a good conventional head has a HUGE effect, ..

With the sheetmetal intake being the pinnacle of intakes...How do the profiler single and tunnel ram(spread port) compare?????????

another new head i see this week in national dragster add.brodix 383cc coventional.and the edelbrock/rfd add looks great curtis glad to see your name up there on the add with the big #s with all the work you put in to them that should really help get a bunch sold.
