im looking to have a new cam cut for my new lq9/ls3 headed combo im doing.looking to turn it 7500ish..was going to use huc lobes on both sides of the cam,it will be 247/255 for dur but am now thinking of maybe using the ehx lobe on the exhaust side now..lifters are comp short travels an springs will be btr .685 lift so 170# on the seat and #450 @1.115

how are these lobes in the upper rpms are they stable? its for a pure race app.

Man i don't know much about cams compared to others but why do people hate on the xe-r lobes so much these days when they worked so well back in the day. My first ever aftermarket ls1 cam was a comp 224/224 xe-r back then with Isky 295-d springs it worked really well. It's not like springs cost much to replace these days with btr dual springs etc have come available. If the xe-r lobes are harder on springs who cares!?

I think my current 224/232 .615' 114 in the camaro is xe-r lobes but not sure, i didn't even look at the numbers when i fitted it. Its a gm motorsports cam from here in oz land and i think he still used xe-r lobes at the time he had these cams for sale. I don't have a problem with it with btr dual springs. Shift it at 7400rpm. Can do 3.5 seconds 0-60's on my gtech on the street on the 28" hoosiers. Not too bad for a little cam supposed to be a blower cam in a 100+k miles ls1 from the junkyard.

First cam I had ground for my 416 LS3 headed motor used EHI/EHX lobes , 247/265 .638 lift on both in/ex. 113+4 I ran 9.07 and 148.75 in a 2500lb Camaro. I still used the stock valves and LS7 lifters, BTR .660 spring kit. This was before I logged rpm, but IIRC, rpm was 7600-7700 in the lights.

thanks for the info on that..

an launch the xer lobes are not really that stable..they make good power but are aggressive on the ramp rates an have shown to make more, same or a tad less power with a ton more stability
