I had a similar question about using clevland heads on a 8.2 deck SBF, aka Boss 302. Wasnt sure if it was legal or not. Not an exotic head configuration as Ford offered it at one time. Just curious.

Would it be within the rules of X275 to use a Cleveland head on a 8.2 deck 302 based engine to make a boss 302....with a turbo?

351C are considered Big Blocks...
to people that don't know them very well. ( not saying any thing bad about you) cleveland has a 9.2 deck, windsor has a 9.5. the oil filter, spark plugs, water pump, heads, flex plate, bell housing all can fit a 302. some say they are big block but there not.

351C uses a SB Bellhousing same as 302, 351W...They have a 9.200 deck which is shorter than a 9.500 351W so i would say they are considered a SBF

M blocks still use a 3" main like a 351W. and a small block head bolt pattern. So it falls under small block. Also I believe it has thin cylinder walls like a cleveland so good luck on making serious power with it.

The 351C, 351M, and 400 are all small block motors and will make more power than alot of bigblocks. John Kaase has won 3 EMC's using the platform so a lack of power production is not an issue. The 351M and 400 get a bad rap because they were smog era motors but they are very good performers with a little know how. Build that 351C and dominate until they change the rules, then use the rules and still beat'em.

considered a small block, Jim Willett runs this combo with CHI heads, i think its a windsor bottom end though.
