i am building a back half car with a 29.5/13.5 now and would like to go 31/14 but only have 3 inches from the top of the tire to the top of the quarter panel (do not want to add blisters) have 2 inches of compression on the shocks, so logic tells me with tire growth if shock is full compressed and tire growth this is the biggest tire i can run. the question is if i have the shock fully compressed at 150+ do i have bigger problems than the tire rubbing?

I have always gone off of the 3" of top tire clearance at ride height as a min, 3.5 is better. This is from a successful promod builder.

Remember that your shocks rarely compress beyond ride height unless there is some bumpy shit of a track surface or at slow speeds when going around rough pit roads.

Your last sentence says it best, if you go full compression at speed you will have other concerns at that point.
