was cool to see you guys down in my neck of the woods (memphis)... cool car and way to go man. i almost thought about running in the drag radial shhotout but they said i needed a cage cert to run in the 1/4 LOL... what is a 5.50 in the 1/8 equal to in the quarter on D/R's anyway??? i guess fast enough to need a cert, we don't have all that in arkansas.

how do you keep from busting the oil pan with that motor so low??? i have a 91LX with a BBC in it and i'm always scared i'm gonna bang the pan (we can't use bars) even though the motor sits pretty high. how was that SBF to fit in there? i guess like me putting a BBC into a mustang huh?

5.62! How big is that motor of yours. What MPH in the 1/8?

Correct me if I'm wrong but dont you have a small block Ford in that Camaro?

His engine is a 358,very well built obviously!!! yes its a ford. That car flat gets it in 60' like 1.22. I think like 122 and change to the eight, mabye 123mph.. Butch

By the way "we" chris and I try to plan on oil pan depth, headers trans pan clearance ahead of time because of voilent wheelstands. Butch

Was it geared for the 1/8th or were the gears for 1/4 mile left in there? 1.22 60' using the gears for 1/4 mile? Either way, that's impressive and I can't begin to imagine the amount of flack you get for running a Ford in a Camaro at the races you go to. After seeing many many Fords with GM engines in them, this puts a rather refreshing twist to things. About as cool as seeing a beautiful red '66 Nova with a blown 392 hemi running low 8s a couple years ago. That was a surprise too :shock:

Tim welcome to my dilemma!! The engine is all done after about 800 feet, but is on a serious mission to that point.... The big question is do I sacrafice the first half for a better second half with gearing? Is there a happy medium? I'm stuck thinking I don't want to sacrafice ANYTHING in the 1/8th.... much less the 60'.... which might happen if I kill the gear some.

There's just something going on after that point that the engine just quits pulling.... and it's not that high in rpm. Oh well got all winter to think about it. All I keep thinking is that I need a MUSTANG!!! LOL.

The engine isn't as low as it looks.... it's an illusion I suppose. It's actually as high as an engine will go in that car, as I can't fit a finger between the bell housing and the trans tunnel. SBF fits in there like a bug in a rug 8)

Chris, I have the opposite problem. Runs like crap on the front half,and runs awesome out the back door. And I run a pretty steep gear. Lucky for me I can test all year round,except for these Hurricaines.
